It’s the most wonderful time of the year…

For those of you that don’t know me, I LOVE Christmas.  Like, little-kid-sitting-on-Santa’s-lap love Christmas.  I have been listening to Christmas music since November first and my decorations went up during Thanksgiving break.  But now I am getting ahead of myself.  I cannot believe it is already December 4th and that Thanksgiving has come and gone!  My Thanksgiving was fantastic!  Brandon (my honey who is in the Air Force and stationed in New Mexico) got to come in for 12 whole days!  We had such a good time and it was soooo nice to just be able to relax and not worry about traveling, working, etc. We did go up to the mountains in north Georgia, which was beautiful.

We went hiking and relaxed and played Scrabble and Yahtzee (our new favorite game!).  That’s pretty much how our whole week went really, which was absolutely perfect.  It was a bit odd spending Thanksgiving away from my family, but B and I ended up cooking a nice little meal (with the help of mimosas and wine) including mashed taters, mac and cheese, turkey legs, roasted veggies, rolls, stuffing, and collard greens.  I was quite impressed!  We also tested out some Pinterest milkshake recipes: pumpkin pie bourbon and hot fudge bourbon milkshakes…AMAZING (especially the pumpkin pie!)

We also went and chopped down a Christmas tree for my apartment–Brandon’s FIRST time EVER cutting down a tree!  He did a wonderful job 😉 and my tree looks great thanks to his decorating skills (twice over…I’ll explain in a moment).

So story behind decorating twice….  If you can see in my picture, the tree is in front of the door that leads to my little patio area, which is also where my storage is, so we had been in and out of it that day.  Sunday night, at about midnight, I heard a huge crash, and it sounded like a window had been broken or something.  So I wake B up and he goes out to check what happened (it’s MUCH more dramatic than this, but I am summarizing for you).  Ends up that my tree had fallen over flat on the ground….we still aren’t sure whether the tree fell over on its own or if someone tried to open the patio door and get in and the tree falling scared them off.  Anyway, I barely slept that night, but I am thankful I have a big tough boyfriend!!  So we had to redecorate Monday evening, but it looks fabulous again.  And actually, it looks even better now that I put on the tree skirt I made:

That was another Pinterest find and was super easy to make- no sewing, woohoo!  I love it 🙂  I also made some snowmen decorations (instead of working on lesson plans):

Just painted wood scraps with some fabric for the scarves and hats!  Super easy also.

Anyway, Brandon and I also got to see How the Grinch Stole Christmas: The Musical, which was cute, especially for a Christmas-oholic like me!  I was so very sad to see him leave on Wednesday, but I will see him at the end of this month for Shelby’s wedding (another thing taking up all my time!!).  I can’t believe my baby sister is getting married in less than a month!  And I can’t believe I have less than a month to finish up all of my projects for the wedding!! Eeeeekkkk!!!  Oh well, it will definitely keep me busy and I enjoy most of what I have left to do 🙂  Plus I only have 2 more weeks of school then I head home the 17th and will be able to get tons done there with no distractions!

I hope everyone enjoys the holiday season, I sure am!  It’s always a little bittersweet without my brother, but I truly feel his spirit around this time of the year especially!

Good night!
