EIGHT days my friends, EIGHT days until I see my honey! It has been a looooong seven months without him and I am incredibly excited to see him! He is technically still in Afghanistan at the moment, but should be leaving within the next day or so, making stops in Germany and Canada before heading back to good old Clovis, New Mexico. It worked out fairly well, as I have October 13 & 14 off for fall break, so I will head there Wednesday night and come back Sunday evening. A big THANK YOU to my lovely friends Ashley and Shane for taking in my four-legged friend for the long weekend! From what I gather, we will be heading to Santa Fe at some point in time that weekend, so it will be nice to have some time away from home AND away from Clovis, hehe. I know that Santa Fe is a kind of artsy city, so I am interested to visit and check out some cool spots. Mostly, I am just excited to be able to spend time with Brandon! I am sure I will have plenty of pictures and info to update once I get back from there 🙂
School has been draining me, mentally, physically, and emotionally, so I am thankful that we have that break. It was also nice to get away last weekend (Sept 24) for my sister’s bridal shower. It was AWESOME to see everyone and I think it went pretty well. My mom and I had a lot of fun coming up with a theme and decorating and such. I wanted to do something a little different since my sister and Uriah will not be living together immediately and since their whole situation is a little unique, being a military couple. I decided to do a “favorite things” theme, where I asked her for a list of favorite things (drinks, places, food, etc.) and sent out different lists of things to the guests to have them “base” their gift on. Everyone came up with TONS of creative, fun, sassy, and useful gifts. It was nice because it wasn’t dish after dish, pans after pans, etc. There was a very eclectic mix of gifts, from typical bridal shower gifts to unusual and funny items to very sentimental (dang those Allens for getting us all crying with Uriah’s shirt that smelled like him!). All in all, I think everyone had a great time, myself included! Now I am all about the bachelorette party 🙂 Can’t wait!
That’s about the extent of my exciting life right now. Here are some pics of the bridal shower invites and decorations (didn’t get any from the actual party since I was hosting):
