Well I am down to my final weekend of freedom this summer!  I can’t believe the school year is here already, although I think I am ready for it.  I have been in my classroom most days this week and have gotten quite a bit accomplished.  Every year I discover new ideas for organization and lessons and I have been putting them to use!  My obsession with Pinterest and the subsequent blogs I find doesn’t help much 😉  I am thinking about starting a classroom blog as well.  One of the Kindergarten teachers at my school writes one and I love looking at hers and other teachers’ also.  They are so helpful for getting ideas and problem solving in the classroom.

I have met our new principal, and the grade chairs met with her today.  From the looks of it, she is going to allow us to continue “running” our school the way we have been with our old principal.  While there will be definite differences, this renews my faith that this year won’t be completely miserable.  I was talking with another teacher about the changes that are taking place in the county and in the school and we both agreed that it might be God’s way of kind of telling us that big changes are in the future.  I know for me, the changes this year will help lead me to my big change of moving away from Georgia and discovering what is out there for me come next May.

Today was my last day at the Y.  While I am not overly upset, I will miss a few people I worked with and mostly, the kids.  I have bonded with a few lil ones and their parents, and it will be sad not to see them every week.  I think I will be glad to get back to children who are ALL potty-trained, can feed themselves, and use real words and sentences to express themselves (I will probably regret saying that last part at some point in time, lol).  I do love the feel of a baby in my arms, but who knows, maybe within the next few years I will have one of my own 😉  **note: this will NOT happen until I have two rings on a left-hand finger and a little fun time with my hubby, don’t get any ideas!**

Speaking of my hubby…well, I mean my honey….I found out yesterday that the earliest he will be back is October, so we were both a little bummed about that news.  I had pretty much already ingrained it in my mind that he wouldn’t be back until then, but he had been hearing here and there that it could be as early as August.  I am just hoping that he and I will get to have some time together when he gets back since I will be working and everyone that was in Afghanistan will be wanting to take leave also.  I know we will both come out of this stronger and our relationship will be that much better, but I am SOOOO ready for him to be home!

Oh. And I miss my sister.

K that’s it.

this reminds me of my dad...happy birthday pops 🙂

LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE...

i need a bigger apartment!

So, I really don’t need much space to live, and my apartment is pretty spacious….BUT my crafts and school supplies are TAKING OVER!  No joke, I think I have craft supplies and school stuff on nearly ever surface in every room of my apartment.  While it drives me crazy that my house is so messy, I am finally getting excited for school and loving all of my  projects 🙂  I went into school Wednesday (instead of going to the pool! go me!) and actually got a few things done despite the insane heat.  Our school doesn’t have the AC on yet so I was dripping sweat moving furniture and putting up bulletin board paper.  I have decided this year that I am not going to go along with the school theme (if we still have one with the new principal).  Normally I am totally into the themes and school spirit and all that jazz but I decided this year that, between the new principal and it {most likely} being my last year there, I wanted to do my own “theme.”  I also wasn’t super crazy about the theme that had been chosen (outer space).  It’s a great idea for classroom teachers but much harder to incorporate into the art room.  So I am just going with colorful, bright decorations and a super artsy “theme.”  Like I said, I already put up bulletin board paper and borders and arranged the actual layout of my room, so now I can focus on organization, decoration, and getting my lessons and such together.  I have been a pintrest addict lately, scouring teacher blogs, craft blogs, and just blogs in general.  I have gotten some fantastic ideas [you know, those ones that you go “duh, why didn’t I think of that” when you see them].  I also finally bought some supplies for my room today from the dollar spot at Target (my FAVORITE store) and the dollar store.  My Cricut is getting a lot of use too which is exciting 🙂

In other news, I had another exciting and busy weekend.  Friday I spent some time at the pool with some lovely ladies, which is always fun.  Friday night was my friend Raymond’s birthday and they somehow convinced me to go out after dinner and I had a blast.  I was driving though so I was sippin on water at the bar 😉  It somewhat made me miss going out all the time, but also made me realize I am definitely not a club rat anymore, lol.  Saturday I went out again for my friend Hilary’s birthday, which was also a good time…I got to see lots of people I hadn’t seen in awhile this weekend so I was excited about that.  *I am sooo blessed with so many amazing people in my life!*

I would say I am going to enjoy my last week of freedom to the fullest, but since I work every day and plan on getting school stuff done, I will not be relaxing quite as much as I thought.  Like I said though, I am getting back into the groove of things and think I may *gasp* be about ready to go back to school 🙂

yay for back to school stuff!

savoring my final days of freedom…

Once again, I don’t feel like I have much to post but I am sure I will get carried away with something and write a novel as usual.  I took another trip to Ohio this past weekend (well, a 5 day weekend).  My lovely sister was having a few minor wedding freakouts so I decided it would be best to head home and try to get a few things done before I went back to school (less than 2 weeks, EEEK) and before she headed to San Antonio for training.  We actually got quite a bit done- made and put together all of the invites and response cards, and brainstormed some other ideas.  The invites were what we were really hoping to accomplish and we did 🙂  {and they look pretty darn good if I do say so myself!}  I will eventually post pics of all the DIY wedding stuff we are doing but I don’t want to ruin the surprise for everyone!  As promised, I will include a few pics of some of my other “projects” I have been doing in my spare summer time.

While I was home I also got to have some fun hanging out with my sister and some old friends.  My sis took me out to a dueling piano bar, which I LOVED–Brandon and I used to go to one all the time in Florida and I forgot how much fun they are!  It was nice to kind of let loose for a night and have fun with my sissy.  I also caught up with some of my brother’s old friends that I used to hang out with all the time.  It’s always like a flashback to see them and it’s kind of bittersweet.  I love that I can talk to them about memories with my brother and good times we had, but it goes back to a very strange time in my life.  It’s also odd because I feel like my life is so drastically different from that time, but it seems a lot of them are doing the exact same things and hanging out with the same people they did when I was around 4+ years ago.  It’s almost surreal seeing them all.  I do think I am lucky to have them in my life and they have a special spot in my heart for sure.

I cannot believe I go back to school in less than two weeks!  I always have these grand ideas of getting all kinds of things done and organized over the summer but, as usual, I haven’t done a darn thing for school, whoops!  I am hoping to head to school this week or next week to at least start the process of getting my room cleaned up and organized and ready for another year.  Usually by this time I am getting kind of excited to go back, but with everything that is going on in the school and county, it’s hard to get too hyped up.  One thing I am looking forward to is a regular schedule that keeps me busy (less time to think about my honey in Afghanistan).  Speaking of which, I am ready for him to come home!  I keep watching all of these surprise homecoming shows and such and I am always in tears within the first few minutes.  I just cannot wait for him to be back so I can see his sweet face!  [p.s.  red wine (or any alcohol) + surprise homecoming shows/videos = bad news, lol]

And some pics…

i miss you, miss you so bad...

my love

this is my clever title.

As you can tell, I was having trouble coming up with a clever title for this post.  It’s been awhile.  And to be honest, I don’t have very much to update….my Fourth of July was extremely boring.  It was my first Fourth of July in Atlanta in the 4 years I have lived here and I didn’t have a single plan (other than relaxing at the pool, which I did plenty of!).  Last year I spent the Fourth with my honeybee so I was definitely missing him this year.  I cannot wait for him to come back so I can smootch his face!

Anyway, since the Fourth I have just been working, working out (finally getting into my get right workout routine…although the horrendous cough I have right now might put that on hold again, ughhhh), and laying by the pool.  I have also been feeling rather crafty lately, so I will have to post some of my creations!  I finally got around to making some homemade crayons, which I have been meaning to do since school let out…they turned out so fun!  I think I am going to take some to the Y tomorrow for the kids to color with 🙂  I have been obsessively searching the internet for fun DIY projects and even some stuff for my kiddos to do once we are back in school {speaking of which, THREE WEEKS of freedom left, yikes!}  I really need to start making lists (ha, when am I NOT making lists?) of things to pick up from thrift stores, etc.  I have millions of great ideas and need to just do it!

So, yea, school starts in THREE weeks…for us teachers at least.  I think I am going to head to the school this week sometime to see if anyone destroyed my classroom this summer like they did last summer.  [For those that don’t know this story, basically a family came in to talk to the counselor over the summer last year and their kids “went on a walk” in the school—stopped in my room and decided to fling some paint around and knock stuff off my walls, as well as destroy a few other rooms….when I got back to school my room was nicely painted a new white, but looked like a tornado had gone through it otherwise.  Read: Miss M. NOT HAPPY.]  I am interested in meeting our new principal…  Hopefully the horror stories aren’t true and this year will be smooth sailing.

Ok, off to bed in hopes that my painful and obnoxious cough will be gone in the morning!
